Things have been busy here at Aston Mullins in the run up to the Tattersalls December Foal Sales with seven quality foals catalogued, followed up by four mares in the December Mare Sale. While our staff have been hard at work preparing the sales stock so have previous graduates of the farm been hard at work on racetracks around the world!
MAKE BELIEVE ran a strong race prestigious Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) run for the first time at Keeneland in Kentucky USA. He finished a commendable 5th in a tough field of some of the best racehorses in the world. Truly showing his class in an international field.
BROUGHTON’S HARMONY a Nayef filly out of Park Melody has rewarded her connections for their patience with a 2nd first time out at Chelmsford on the 28th Oct 2015. While she did show a bit of greenness when chasing the leader in the final 100yds she ran on from being held up in the initial stages to take the 2nd spot. She was sold by Aston Mullins at the 2013 Tattersalls October Yearling sale for 32,000GNS to Emma O’Gorman/Willie Musson Racing.
It is with delight that we can say our recent trip to the August Yearling Sale at Arqana in Deauville was successful! The yearling by BATED BREATH ex CAT O’ NINE TAILS was knocked down to Charles Gordon-Watson for the sum of €90,000
This filly is a fine example of a thoroughbred, with a powerful engine, a good head and an athletic walk. We wish her new owners all the best and look forward to following her career on the racetrack.
The longest standing member of the Aston Mullins team, ABBEY PRINCE, has won his first attempt at a Horse Of the Year Show qualifier with Millie Hope! While this isn’t the usual scene for most of us here on the farm in is nonetheless an exciting achievement and we all look forward to the party at the HOYS in Birmingham in October where he will hopefully put in another regal performance.

Aston Mullins home bred MAKE BELIEVE (Makfi) has provided the stud with its first Classic success when storming the field to win the French 2000 Guineas yesterday. The handsome Bay out of ROSIE’S POSY broke well and led from the start to win by three lengths from New Bay, also trained by Andre Fabre. Make Believe has been a record setter for Aston Mullins since the beginning being the highest price foal sold by the stud at auction. He was offered for sale at the Tattersalls December Foal sale in 2012 where he impressed Prince Faisal and connections who purchased the colt for 180,000GNS.
